Who are the big winners from showbiz?

The 2022 elections will be remembered as the election where the results can be easily discerned. Two days after May 9, the partial and unofficial tally already gives voters an idea of who the winners and [possible] whiners will be.

In showbiz, the big winner is action star Robin Padilla, who remains strong in his number one spot on the list of senators. Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, another action star, currently occupies the number 11 spot. Robin and Jinggoy are set to join two other action stars in the upper house, Senators Lito Lapid and Bong Revilla, Jr., while the fate of Herbert Bautista, former Quezon City mayor, hangs in the balance on the 14th spot.

Antique Rep. Loren Legarda, award-winning host and journalist, is unmoving in the number two position, followed by fellow TV personality and host Raffy Tulfo.

Meanwhile, all signs point to award-winning actor Arjo Atayde becoming the first district representative in Quezon City. But Cebuano actor Richard Yap seems unsuccessful in his second try to secure a seat in congress.

Not Richard Gomez, though. Richard and his wife, Lucy, have exchanged positions. Ormoc Mayor Richard is poised to become the district’s representative, while Lucy will now be the local executive.

Re-electionist Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando and running-mate, Alex Castro, are leading in the polls.

Another re-electionist, former beauty queen and actress Ina Alegre, who is Jennifer Cruz in real life, will serve for another term as mayor of Pola in Mindoro. In Oriental Mindoro, Ejay Falcon has already thanked voters for electing him as the new vice governor. His former co-star, Jason Abalos, is also a first-time politician, winning as a board member in Nueva Ecija.

First-time politicians, too are Javi Benitez, now the mayor of Victorias City in Negros Occidental, and actress Angelu de Leon, who wins a seat in the Pasig City council. Angelu is part of the winning ticket of Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto and his running-mate, Dudut Jaworski, now vice mayor.

Jolo Revilla, Cavite vice governor, is leading in the congressional race in the first district of Cavite, while his mom, Lani Mercado, is set to be the representative in the second district.
Award-winning actor Yul Servo, currently a congressman, is now vice mayor of Manila.

Aiko Melendez, JC Parker Aguas, James Yap, and Ervic Vijandre also made it as councilors in their respective districts.

The Commission of Elections, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) for the 2022 elections, said the winners in the local posts may already be proclaimed by today, May 10 and the new senators by May 15 to 16. The votes for president and vice president will be canvassed by Congress when it resumes session on May 23.
