WATER hyacinths clogging the Pasig River led to the limited operation of the Pasig River Ferry yesterday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.
The agency, which posted the advisory at past 1 p.m., said the only operating route of the ferry service was from Guadalupe in Makati to Sta. Ana, Manila and back.
“Dahil ito sa dami ng water hyacinth sa bahagi ng Napindan dockyard kaya’t hindi makabiyahe ang mga ferry boat (This was due to the huge volume of water hyacinth near the Napindan dockyard area, that is why our ferry boats cannot ply their route),” the MMDA said.
“Nasa 15-20 tonelada ang nahakot ng backhoe mula sa mga water hyacinth sa lugar (Around 15-20 tons of water hyacinths have been removed in the area),” the agency added.
