THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday reminded the public that visa/immigration consultancy firms are not licensed to recruit overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In a series of social media posts, the DMW said the public should not believe the employment opportunities being offered by visa/immigration consultancy firms.
“Visa/immigration consultancy firms have no license or authority from the DMW to recruit OFWs to work abroad,” said the DMW.
“The offering of jobs abroad to Filipinos by visa/immigration consultancy firms sans any licenses from the DMW is illegal,” it added.
The DMW issued the advisory after receiving reports of visa/immigration consultancy firms offering jobs to countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, and Malta.
The DMW urged those promised by visa/immigration consultancy firms of jobs abroad to report them to authorities.
“Do contact us to file a complaint against these visa/immigration consultancy firms so we can hold them liable as well as their employees or agents,” the DMW said.
