THE Philippine Olympic Committee Executive Board is eyeing University of the Philippines president Atty. Danilo Concepcion to replace Valenzuela Rep. Eric Martinez as the third man in the POC electoral committee that will supervise the POC polls set on Nov. 27.
Meeting in an online session yesterday, 10 members of the 13-man POC Executive Board unanimously approved the endorsement of POC president Rep. Bambol Tolentino for Concepcion to join Atty. Teodoro Kalaw III and Frank Elizalde, the former International Olympic Committee representative to the country, in the committee, according to board member Robert Mananquil.
A UP College of Law graduate in 1983, Concepcion, 62, has been UP president since 2017 and served as the dean of the UP College of Law from 2011 to Jan. 26, 2018.
Mananquil said that also joining the board meeting, aside from Tolentino, were POC chairman Steve Hontiveros, POC first vice president Joey Romasanta, secretary general Atty. Ed Gastanes, treasurer Julian Camacho, auditor Jonne Go, board members Atty. Clint Aranas of archery, Cynthia Carrion of gymnastics, and triathlete Nikko Huelgas as representative of the POC Athlete’s Commission.
Also joining the meeting was boxing head Ricky Vargas in his capacity as immediate POC president.
