THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning the public against the consumption of two unregistered coffee products, saying they may pose potential health hazards.
In Advisory Nos. 2024-0014 and 2024-0015, the FDA warned the public against patronizing “Traditional Wood Fired Catimor Arabica (Kape Lumad) Choco Hazelnut” and “Bukidnon Coffee Cinchona Lantapan.”
“The FDA verified through online monitoring or post-marketing surveillance that the abovementioned food products are not registered and no corresponding Certificates of Product Registration (CPRs) have been issued,” said the FDA.
“The FDA warns the general public not to purchase and consume the unregistered food products,” it added.
The FDA said the warning is being issued due to the potential health hazards of the two products.
“Since these food products have not gone through the evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety,” said the FDA.
The agency said all concerned establishments are being warned not to distribute, advertise, or sell the said violative food products.
All law enforcement agencies and local government units are also asked to ensure the said products are not sold or made available in their areas of jurisdiction.
The FDA also urged the Bureau of Customs to restrain the entry of unregistered imported products.
