THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday advised the public against buying medical bandage online, specifically the “Aliname Waterproof Adhesive Wound Dressing Medical Fixation Tape Bandage 3 sizes” and “3 rolls Waterproof Bandage Gauze Wraps Elastic Adhesive First Aid Tape Stretch Blue Horse S” which are being sold at lazada.com.ph.
It said the two products are not registered with the FDA.
“Since these unregistered medical devices have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety,” it said.
The FDA also warned lazada.com.ph and other establishments against selling products that are not certified by the agency.
It said selling unregistered medical devices is against Republic Act No. 9711 or the FDA Act.
The FDA also urged the Bureau of Customs to restrain the entry of the two unregistered products. — Gerard Naval
