WITH less than three weeks remaining until the May 9 elections, the UniTeam of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio vowed to campaign harder and continue calling for unity, healing, hope, and peace until the end of the campaign period as they revisited the vote-rich provinces in Southern Luzon.

Marcos campaigned yesterday in Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro while Duterte-Carpio, accompanied by Batangas Gov. Dodo Mandanas and Vice Gov. Mark Leviste, met with health workers and other frontliners in Batangas.

Marcos and Duterte-Carpio later joined the UniTeam senatorial candidates in a grand rally in Lipa City.

The UniTeam is set to campaign in Laguna today. Laguna has over 2 million voters while Batangas has over 1.82 million voters. They also campaigned in Cebu, the most vote-rich province in the country with over 3.2 million voters, last Tuesday.

“Our campaign will continue and talks with Filipinos will continue to spread the message of unity and peace for the country,” Duterte-Carpio said in Filipino during an interview in Batangas City.

Asked if there is a chance that President Duterte will join her in the campaign, she said there she and her father do not discuss politics.

The President has endorsed her presidential bid.

With around 19 days left until the elections, OCTA Research fellow Guido David said presidential and vice presidential candidates who are lagging in surveys “can only do so much” to catch up with the frontliners.

But David, at the “Laging Handa” public briefing, emphasized that survey results are just a snapshot of the voters’ preference.

He said it is also difficult to conclude that the survey results will be the same as the election results.

Based on OCTA’s survey, 57 percent said they prefer Marcos for president followed by Vice President Leni Robredo with 22 percent while 57 percent said they prefer to vote for Duterte-Carpio for vice president followed by Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III with 23 percent.

David said another election survey is expected to be released by OCTA either on the last week of this month or first week of May.

He said the important thing is for the people to vote based on their choices and not depend or be swayed by the survey results.
