Undas commemoration leaves 10 truckloads of garbage

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority yesterday said this year’s Undas commemoration generated 10 truckloads of garbage equivalent to 33.83 metric tons of waste.

Data provided by the agency’s Metro Parkway Clearing Group said the garbage collected from 27 cemeteries around Metro Manila from October 26 to November 2 was much higher than the 24.2 metric tons or seven truckloads collected in last year’s Undas observance.

The 27 cemeteries are La Loma, Golden Heaven Cemetery, St. Joseph Cemetery, Manila South Cemetery, Tugatog Cemetery, Mandaluyong Cemetery, San Felipe Neri Catholic Cemetery, North Cemetery, Manila North Green Park, Barangka Cemetery, Navotas Cemetery, Soldier’s Hill Cemetery;

Palanyag Public Cemetery, Sargento Mariano Cemetery, Baraks Cemetery, Santolan Cemetery, Roman Catholic Cemetery, Garden Memories Cemetery, Aglipay Cemetery, San Joaquin/Santa Martha and San Roque cemeteries in Pateros, Bagbag Cemetery, Sangandaan Cemetery, San Juan Cemetery, Hagonoy Municipal Cemetery, Arkong Bato Cemetery, and Karuhatan Cemetery.

The city government of Manila said its personnel collected 287 metric tons of waste or 107 truckloads from October 28 to November 2 from the Manila North and South Cemeteries.
