PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office on Tuesday to new appointees led by Antonio Manuel Lagdameo, as ambassador and permanent representative of the Philippines to the United Nations.
He also reappointed Jose Manuel Romualdez as the ambassador to the United Nations, and Mark Lapid as chief operating officer of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
Other new appointees in the Marcos Cabinet were announced yesterday. There was still no announcement about the heads of the Department of Health and the Department of Energy.
Others appointed and sworn into office were Junie Cua, former Quirino representative, as chairman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and Abdulghani Salapuddin, former congressman and governor of Basilan, as administrator and chairman of the Southern Philippines Development Authority.
Lagdameo is former ambassador to the United Kingdom. Romualdez has been ambassador to Washington since 2017.
Also reappointed was Romeo Lumagui Jr. as chief deputy commissioner for operations of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Also sworn in were Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Jose Arnulfo Veloso as president and general manager of Government Service Insurance System, and Col. Ramon Zagala as commander of the Presidential Security Group and senior military assistant.
Actor Tirso Cruz III was named as chairman and chief executive of the Film Development Council, and Juan Revilla was named as a member of the board of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
Press Secretary Trixie Angeles said Cruz replaced Liza Diño who was reappointed by former president Rodrigo Duterte to a fresh three-year term as FDC chairperson before he stepped down.
Angeles said Diño was covered by Memorandum Circular No. 1 which declared certain positions in departments, bureau, and offices under the executive department as vacant.
