THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) yesterday said it is monitoring a tropical depression in extreme northern Luzon.
PAGASA weather special Daniel Villamil said there is a possibility the tropical depression will enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
As of 3 a.m. yesterday, the tropical depression was some 1,680 km east northeast of extreme northern Luzon. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It was moving west southwest at 20 kph.
Villamil said the weather disturbance has yet “no direct effect” on the country, adding it is not enhancing the southwest monsoon.”
