ALMOST halfway through the PBA Philippine Cup eliminations TNT has emerged a cut above the rest.

The rampaging Tropang Giga intend to solidify that status when they gun for their fifth straight win when they clash with Blackwater today at the Smart 5G-powered AUF Sports Arena in Angeles City.

Tangling in the nightcap are Rain or Shine and Alaska, both bent on extending their own winning surges.

Main focus should be on the first game where TNT tries to maintain the solo lead while and boost its bid to advance to the eight-team playoffs after the 11-game eliminations.

League chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III has noted that teams with at least five wins are sure of advancing to the next round based on the same format usually reserved for the Governors Cup but adopted by the PBA this time because of the pandemic-caused circumstances.

Things could get better for the Tropang Giga should they continue winning as the top four teams will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage over the lower-ranked teams in the quarterfinals.

The odds seem to favor TNT, which is coming off a 110-91 win over previously unbeaten Phoenix Super LPG last Monday.

In contrast, Blackwater is still reeling from an 82-120 drubbing from Alaska just last Tuesday, cutting short the Elite’s two-win start.
