With over 100 stores in the country, top beauty brand Beautederm seems to be setting its sights beyond the Philippines.
The consumer favorite is on its twelfth year and is also patronized by Filipinos abroad, including Singapore, where it has a store in Lucky Plaza. Just this month, its Beautederm Facial Set became “Health Canada notified.” The process took three years, but the latest certification is a testament to the company’s credibility, the brand’s reliability and its products’ effectiveness in the skin and anti-aging categories.
Beautederm, founded in 2009 by marketing maven and business maverick Rhea Anicoche-Tan, is also known for its glittering roster of endorsers that are as many as its stores.
Among these celebrities are Lorna Tolentino, Marian Rivera, Bea Alonzo, Dingdong Dantes, Piolo Pascual and Sylvia Sanchez. On its next phase, the super brand is looking to get an endorser from Korea, the country known for glowing complexion and is currently being hailed as the skincare capital of the world.
The Beautederm CEO and president is excited at the prospect of welcoming a Korean star in the Beautederm family.
“Suggestions, anyone? Annyeonghaseyo!” recently Anicoche-Tan wrote on her social media account.
Anicoche-Tan is also very proud of the latest feather in her cap — the 7-storey BD Corporate Office in Angeles, Pampanga that is set to open this year. The imposing structure along the main road in Angeles is bound to turn heads with its all-glass faí§ade.
“Dugo’t pawis na ipinuhunan ko sa pagpapatayo nitong building ko,” Tan told members of the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) at a recent visit to her Pampanga headquarters.
The BD Corporate Office sits on a 1000-square-meter lot and features underground parking. The state-of-the-art building will house a classy coffee shop, a stylish photo studio with private dressing rooms, a massive function hall, the elegant Beautehub, and the posh A-List Avenue Shop.
I made sure na Instagrammable every corner ng coffee shop and ‘yung clinic,” she added.
The BD Corporate Office, properties, cars and other luxury items are “katas ng pagiging tindera,” humbly said Anicoche-Tan, who started as a DJ in Baguio before becoming a marketing manager in an appliance store in Pampanga. She kept her 9-5 job then would sell goods online after work. She founded Beautederm with a P3500 capital. She lost a lot of money along the way, but gained invaluable wisdom.
“At age 28, na bankrupt ako,” she revealed. “Masyado kasi akong nagtiwala sa mga tao.”
Rhea found herself in debt, but managed to pull herself together. Now, Beautederm is booming and A-List Avenue is top of mind by luxury brand lovers. And she has not forgotten her humble beginnings and the people who have been with her from the start.
Rhea is not just known for her business acumen, but has been hailed several times for her philanthropy. She has shared and continues to share her blessings to those badly hit by the pandemic. She is also a very generous boss, gifting cars and houses to loyal staff, including her general manager Mylene Timbol, who left the company where Anicoche-Tan once worked to join Beautederm. Some of Rhea’s 20 or so houses serve as staff lodgings. She also has several scholars, many of whom are children of her employees.
“I can’t do all of these without my staff,” Anicoche-Tan said. “Ipinagdarasal ko lahat-lahat at siyempre, kung ano ang mayroon ako, isini-share ko rin. Mahalaga rin na magbahagi tayo sa mga taong tapat at loyal sa atin.”
