In an emotional statement on Friday, actor Tom Rodriguez finally revealed the true state of his relationship with actress Carla Abellana.
Rodriguez, a US citizen, said that they are now divorced.
He only hopes for happiness for Carla and no longer wish to talk more about their “brokenness,” he also said.
“Now that the divorce decree is final, I truly wish Carla’s birthday wish be granted and that she finds the happiness she is searching for.”
Tom said after trying to patch things up with Carla, he left in March to stay with his family in the US.
He admitted he was not a perfect partner but denied any allegation of physical abuse on his part.
“I may have fallen short as a partner, especially when I lost all my money to someone who preyed on my gullibility, but it must be stressed that at no time did I ever lay a hand on Carla.”
The 34-year-old actor said he is moving on. “I have to teach myself how to fall out of love from her. This will be a lonely, painful path that I shall take, but together with my family here in the US.”
Tom and Karla were paired in GMA’s “My Husband’s Lover” in 2013. They became a couple in 2014 and tied the knot on October 23, 2021 in Tagaytay. Rumors of their separation started to circulate in January.
