ONE hundred sixty-four more patients succumbed to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while 4,289 new cases were reported by the Department of Health yesterday, raising the number of infections in the country to 1,450,110.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 25,459 for a case fatality rate of 1.76.
Four laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last July 5.
Active cases dipped to 47,519 with 90.4 percent mild cases, 4.1 percent asymptomatic cases, 2.3 percent severe cases, 1.6 percent moderate cases, and 1.6 percent critical cases.
The DOH also reported that 6,399 more patients have recovered, raising the number of survivors to 1,377,132. This means that 95 percent of COVID-19 patients have recovered.
The number of overseas Filipinos who have contracted the deadly virus since last year now stands at 20,916 after six new cases were reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The DFA said majority of the cases were recorded in the Middle East and African regions with 11,861 while the Americas reported the fewest number of cases at 986.
No new deaths were reported Wednesday. The current death toll is 1, 243, with 836 recorded in the Middle East and African regions.
There were three new recoveries, bringing the number of survivors to 12,381. — With Ashzel Hachero
