ONE hundred five more patients succumbed to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as the death toll neared 26,000 while 5,916 new cases were reported yesterday by the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the toll from the deadly virus rose to 25,921, just 79 deaths of breaching the 26K mark, for case fatality rate of 1.76 while the number of infections in the country climbed to 1,473,025.
Last Friday, the DOH reported 70 deaths and 96 last Saturday.
The new cases do not include figures from three laboratories that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last July 9.
There were 49,701 active cases, with 89.3 percent mild cases, 5 percent asymptomatic cases, 2.4 percent severe cases, 1.7 percent moderate cases, and 1.5 percent critical cases.
The DOH reported 6,127 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 1,397,403, meaning 94.9 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
The Department of Foreign Affairs reported no new COVID-19 cases or deaths among overseas Filipinos.
As of Saturday, July 10, the number of overseas Filipinos who have contracted the virus has reached 20,993, with 1,245 fatalities.
Majority of the cases and deaths were recorded in the Middle East and African regions with 11,864 and 836, respectively, while the Americas had the lowest number of cases with 988.
The Americas though had the second highest number of fatalities with 245.
Meanwhile, 12,354 overseas Filipinos who have contracted the virus have recovered. — With Ashzel Hachero
