TNT wears down Phoenix

THE giant in TNT woke up in time and eventually wore down Phoenix Super LPG 110-91 last night to reclaim solo leadership anew in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart 5G-powered AUF Sports Arena in Angeles City.

Roger Pogoy scattered 27 of his team-high 30 points in the last three quarters, typifying the Tropang Giga’s rise from a listless start and into their fourth win in as many games.

Lending the biggest hand was Poy Erram, who came off the bench and finished with 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks to lead the defense that TNT coach Bong Ravena largely credited for the win.

“In the first half, we were having a hard time because they (Fuel Masters) started so well, started so strong,” said Ravena. “In the second half our defense pulled us through.”

Phoenix could not sustain its own blistering start that boosted it to as much as a 42-28 lead, practically wilting when TNT charged back and trailed 87-107.
