WILL Thirdy Ravena suit up in the Japan B. League All-Star game?
That’s unlikely after the high-flying former Ateneo star wingman suffered a fractured right ring finger injury (right 4th finger metacarpal oblique fracture) last Jan. 2, although San-En NeoPhoenix has yet to announce if Ravena will still compete in the Slam Dunk contest on Jan. 15 and play in the All-Star match on Jan. 17.
The 6-foot-2 Ravena said he is looking forward to recovering from the injury but described it as an “arduous journey to recovery.”
“We are now in the process of getting myself back to 100% as soon as we can, but I do understand that it will be an arduous journey to recovery,” Ravena said in a statement.
“With the help of my ever-supportive teammates and our hardworking team staff at San-En, I am fully focused on getting back and making sure I return fitter and stronger than ever,” he added.
Ravena, 24, scored six points and grabbed five rebounds but left the game for good at the 5:30 mark of the third quarter in San-En NeoPhoenix’s numbing 80-81 loss to SunRockers Shibuya at the Aoyama Gakuin Memorial Hall in Tokyo last Jan. 2.
San-En NeoPhoenix lost anew to the same foe 64-105, its fifth straight, last Jan. 3 that dropped it to 5-22 in the West District.
The former three-time UAAP finals MVP said he would make good use of his time while recuperating from the injury.
“I would like to send my thanks to everyone who has reached out during this difficult time, especially to the San-En NeoPhoenix fans; I’m overwhelmed with the love and support you all have been sending me,” Ravena said.
“I’ll be taking this time to realign and refocus so that I can give you the best version of myself the next time I step on the court.”
