THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is warning Filipinos who are looking to work abroad against text messages that could endanger their personal data and information.
It said the scam text messages are being sent by unscrupulous individuals using the agency’s name.
In the message, the recipient has supposedly been approved of his/her application by the DMW and is being directed to click the accompanying link.
“Your employment CV sent to the DMW has been approved, Click for details: httextimort.com/20thect and you can get 3,000/day,” said the text message as quoted by DMW.
The department said the message is a phishing scam.
“Once you click the link, you will be redirected to a website, which can capture your personal data, password, account number, or other sensitive personal information that may be used in illegal activities,” said the DMW.
The DMW reminded the public to “disregard or delete” the messages.
“This is a scam. It didn’t come from the DMW,” it said. — Gerard Naval
