WITH more and more Filipinos engaged in content creation, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is urging technical-vocational (tech-voc) training centers to start offering content creation courses.

“Our content creators must be well-equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to produce compelling and engaging content,” TESDA Director General Suharto Mangudadatu said in a statement.

“Many of our kababayans (countrymen) are very talented and resourceful … We are encouraging tech-voc providers to offer courses on content creation,” he added.

Mangudadatu said by providing Filipinos with quality training programs, those interested to produce their own digital materials can learn the skills they need to make the most of online livelihood opportunities while using readily available technology and mostly in the comfort of their own homes.

“Virtual networks and communities have enabled us to connect with our audience, build brand awareness, and strengthen engagement. However, the effectiveness of our efforts relies heavily on the quality and relevance of the content we share,” he said.

“If given the right skills, they will be better positioned to create content that resonate better with their audience, foster meaningful connections, and ultimately contribute significantly to society,” he added.

Mangudadatu also said the agency has developed the competency standards on Content Creation (Social Media) Level III, which may be used as basis by institutions to prepare suitable training programs.

The core competencies for the qualification include creating concepts for social media posting, translating concepts into multimedia content, and propagating content.
