TAYTAY (Palawan) Bishop Broderick Pabillo is asking the faithful to help complete the construction of the St. Joseph The Worker Cathedral, which is now on its 14th year.
He said engineers and architects involved in the project estimate they will still need around P90 million to finish the construction.
Pabillo said the Taytay faithful have long sought for their own cathedral.
“I came to Taytay as its second bishop on August 2021. I have heard the desire of the people and the clergy to finish the construction,” he said.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay was established in 2002. It was only in 2009 when it was able to acquire for the cathedral, and when construction started, Pabillo said.
He said the COVID-19 pandemic stopped the construction and potential fund-raising activities since 2020. He added the vicariate prioritized the needs of the people after typhoon “Odette” hit the province in December 2021 by building houses and bancas, and reconstructing damaged or destroyed chapels.
Pabillo said donations may be sent through their bank accounts with account name of “Vicar Apostolic of the Vicariate of Taytay, Inc.” and account Nos. 008873 0626 07 (BPI), 3631 0154 32 (Landbank), 007 706 00251 7 (Metrobank), and 011950154805 (BDO).
Donations may also be sent via electronic wallets, particularly Gash (0977 409 2016) and Palawan Pay (0977 409 2016).
“The Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay sincerely expresses her utmost gratitude to you and to those, in one way or another, have helped in the construction of St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral. May the good Lord, who cannot be outdone in generosity, reward you a hundredfold for your kindness and generosity,” said Pabillo.
