A WITNESS of Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE) yesterday claimed before a Marikina trial court that he composed the famous jingle of the noontime show “Eat Bulaga.”
Witness Vincent Huang Buncio said that he composed the song, which has been used by the variety show for years now.
However, on cross examination of lawyer Enrique dela Cruz, defense lawyer of the TVJ (Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon) trio, Buncio’s testimony crumbled as he admitted that he only gave a few inputs to improve the jingle.
He said the whole song was composed by Vic Sotto.
Also during Thursday’s hearing, Marikina RTC Branch 273 Judge Romeo Tagra denied the request of TAPE lawyers to 83-year-old allow Romeo Jalosjos Sr. to testify via video conferencing, saying he cannot come to the court physically as he has been diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia.
Tagra said the request failed to meet the requirements of videoconferencing guidelines, among them: security risk of his/her (witness) transport in going to and from the court; real and apparent danger to his/her life, security and safety; serious health concerns; and vulnerability of the witness due to age, physical condition, disability.
Tagra noted that in making the request, the TAPE lawyers did not cite for serious consideration the witness’ age or ailment.
“He (Jalosjos) was in fact, only advised to take a ‘rest for a period of one week’,” he noted.
Tagra, however, agreed to move Jalosjos’ court appearance to Monday (September 25) afternoon.
