A TAIWANESE wanted for forgery in Taipei was nabbed by immigration agents in Quezon City last week.

Bureau of Immigration-Fugitive Search Unit Chief Rendel Ryan Sy said Peng Hui Ying, 61, was arrested on January 12 in a condominium unit on Araneta Ave.

Sy said the arrest was based on a mission order issued by Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente on the request of Taiwanese authorities.

He said an arrest warrant was issued against Peng in 2017 by a district court in Hsinchu for forgery.

Information provided by Taiwanese authorities revealed that Peng reportedly forged a financial document to defraud his victim of 380,000 new Taiwan dollars, equivalent to almost $14,000.

Sy said Peng has also been overstaying in the country, having arrived more than five years ago as a tourist.

Peng is currently detained at the BI detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending her deportation. Her name will be placed in the immigration blacklist to prevent her re-entry to the country.
