THE Vatican prelate of Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle keeps getting fuller.
This after Tagle was named by Pope Francis as a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
The announcement was made by the Vatican on June 1, along with the 21 other new members of the Congregation.
Established in 1908, the Congregation is in charge of matters concerning the regulation and promotion of the sacred liturgy, primarily of the sacraments.
It is presently headed by Cardinal Arthur Roche.
Tagle has been in the Vatican since February 2020 when he formally assumed his post as head of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
In May 2020, the Pontiff elevated him to the order of “cardinal bishops,” the highest rank within the College of Cardinals and is where the Dean of Cardinals is elected from.
In July 2020, Tagle was also named member of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.
Again in February 2021, he was appointed as a member of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA), which serves as the central bank of the Vatican.
Tagle was also named member of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches in July 2021.
In addition, Tagle is also in his second and last term as president of Caritas Internationalis, a confederation of Catholic charities around the world.
