THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued a summons to presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in relation to three disqualification cases filed against his candidacy.
In a social media post, Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said the summons issued by the Comelec’s first division has already been sent to the e-mail addresses of the concerned election officers (EOs).
“The summons directed Respondent Marcos to file a verified Answer to each Petition within 5 days from receipt, in accordance with the rules,” said Guanzon.
The poll commissioner said EOs were directed to print, personally serve the summons to Marcos, and to submit affidavits of service.
Guanzon also said that the Provincial Election Supervisors (PES) and Regional Election Directors (RED) have been requested to ensure effective service of the summons.
And with the year 2021 already set to end, she said the preliminary conferences for the three disqualification cases have been set for next year.
