SUPREME Court Associate Justice and 2024 Bar chairperson Mario Lopez yesterday shared last-minute tips and reminders to the more than 12,000 applicants who will take the examinations this year.

This year’s Bar examinations are set on September 8, 11 and 15.

Lopez shared the tips and reminders even as he assured the applicants that the exams “will be neither difficult nor easy, it will be exacto lang (just right).”

The Bar examinations is said to be the most grueling licensure exam in the country.

“The exams are designed to bridge the gap between the study and the practice of law. They will guide you in your transition from law students to fundamentally practice-ready and potentially capable lawyers,” Lopez said.

“The questions will focus on practical skills, jurisprudential perspectives, and analytical and problem-solving abilities,” he also said.

Lopez advised the applicants to follow a “structured methodology” in answering the Bar exams questions, which he said incorporates legal basis, application, and conclusion.

“Begin with a clear and concise response to the question to set the stage for your analysis. Next, support your answer with relevant legal principles, citing applicable statutes, case law, or doctrines. Finally, apply these principles to the facts of the case or scenario presented in your conclusion,” he tipped applicants.

He also advised them to read Bar bulletins, advisories and informative materials regarding the exams.

Lastly, Lopez told applicants to trust in their capabilities and preparation for the Bar.

The SC has said there are 12,186 law graduates who applied to take this year’s Bar exams.

Last year, 10,387 took the Bar exams.

A total of 3,812 completed the 2023 Bar, which was topped by University of Sto. Tomas law graduate Ephraim Porciuncula Bie with a score of 89. 2625 percent.
