MAYOR Vico Sotto wants all contractual employees of the Pasig government who have served at least five years to become permanent employees.
During his State of the City Address last Saturday, Sotto said: “We are working on shortening the promotion period of employees from 10 to five years. We want all employees to become permanent although it might take more than a few days or even more than one term but we will pursue it.”
Sotto said that from the time he became mayor in 2019, the city has promoted over 5,000 employees from job order to casual and casual to permanent provided they have worked with the LGU for at least 10 years.
He said there are currently 3,458 casual employees in the Pasig LGU, 2,444 JO, and over 500 contractual workers.
“As long as they applied and are qualified, they will be promoted even if I don’t know them personally or are not friendly to my administration. That will be the policy of the Pasig LGU,” Sotto said. — Christian Oineza
