Korean superstar Son Ye-Jin wants to fly to the Philippines, shoot an ad here and meet her fans.
In an interview welcoming Ye-Jin as the ambassador for Smart Signature, the “Crash Landing on You” actress said a lot of Pinoys have reached out to her but lamented that because of the global health crisis, she could not be up close and personal with her fans here.
“I was very happy [that a company from the Philippines has invited her to become their new endorser],” she said in Hangeul. “Actually, I wanted to go to the Philippines and shoot.
And the fans who loved the drama sent me so many messages of support on social media.
I am really happy to shoot an advertisement for a Philippine brand and it’s even better because it’s a Smart advertisement. It’s just so sad that I couldn’t come to see all the fans in person, but I‘m always very thankful and happy to be able to meet them in this way.”
All is not lost, however. Smart, through Jane Basas, head of consumer wireless business, revealed that the 38-year-old Korean star’s contract with the telecom company “includes a visit to the Philippines where she’s supposed to do three events with us.”
Will it be possible for Ye-Jin to reunite with “Crash Landing on You” leading man Hyun Bin, who, last June, was introduced as Smart’s first Korean brand ambassador? Hyun Bin also failed to land in the Philippines because of travel restrictions.
“It will be up to the boss whether we’ll bring them both together, in one event. I won’t tease. It depends on their schedule, because they’re part of two separate management teams,” Basas explained.
