Shabu worth P34M seized in Tawi-Tawi; 3 suspected dealers nabbed

GOVERNMENT troops arrested three suspected drug peddlers and seized five kilos of suspected shabu worth P34 million in an anti-narcotics operation in Bongao town in Tawi-Tawi yesterday morning.

Maj. Arvin Encinas, spokesman of the military’s Western Mindanao Command based in Zamboanga City, identified the arrested suspects as Haberson Jaafar, Elmer Jamadin, and Adzfar Asali.

Encinas said they were nabbed around 8:30 a.m. during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Poblacion.

Encinas said the operation involved troops from the Marine Battalion Landing Team 9, Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency, Tawi-Tawi provincial police office and Bongao police station.

“Said operation also resulted in the seizure of more or less five kilograms of shabu with an estimated market value of P34 million,” said Brig. Gen. Camilo Balutan, commander of the Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi.

Meanwhile, police yesterday seized around 8.3 grams of suspected shabu worth more than P50,000 from an ice delivery boy in a buy-bust operation in Pasay City.

The suspect was identified as Jericho Bonafe, 18, who is from Trece Martires, Cavite.

The anti-illegal drug operation was conducted on Molave St., Barangay 145, Zone 16 in Pasay City at about 1:30 a.m.

Police seized 12 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P56,440.

Three persons were nabbed in separate buy bust operation in Pasig and Marikina and seized 1,214 grams of suspected shabu.
