A SERBIAN wanted by US authorities for illegal drugs was arrested by immigration operatives in Angeles, Pampanga.
Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco yesterday said Predrag Mrikovic, 60, was apprehended last April 25 inside a bar in Angeles City.
Tansingco said Mirkovic’s arrest came after US authorities sought the help of the BI over the latter’s drug case.
“US authorities bared that Mirkovic has an outstanding arrest warrant issued by a district court in Maryland where he was charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute controlled substances in violation of the US penal code,” Tansingco said.
The BI also received a letter-complaint from a concerned citizen alleging that Mirkovic was involved in trading illegal drugs in Angeles City.
The complainant, according to Tansingco, asked the BI to deport Mirkovic whom he described as an undesirable alien.
Mirkovic is also the subject of a warrant issued by a family court in Calamba, Laguna for violation of Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women Act.
The case was filed by Mirkovic’s estranged Filipina partner.
The Serbian is detained at the BI warden’s facility in Bicutan, Taguig City.
