LABOR Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma yesterday welcomed the Senate’s approval of the proposed “Trabaho Para sa Bayan (TPB) Act” and lauded the inclusion of labor groups and the informal sector in its implementing panel.
In a phone interview, Laguesma said gave its full support to the enactment of the measure, saying that this will greatly help in generating more employment opportunities for Filipinos.
“The DOLE is in support of the formulation of a National Employment Master Plan that will serve as the country’s master plan on employment generation and recovery. We particularly commend the inclusion of representatives from labor organizations, employers associations, the marginalized and vulnerable sector, and the informal sector as members of the TPB Inter-Agency Council,” he said.
In addition, the labor chief said they are also looking forward to the priority given to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“They will be given support in the forms of increased access to financing, capital, and other incentives that will result to the empowerment of MSMEs and create more job opportunities,” said Laguesma.
Because of this, he said they are hoping that the measure will be passed into law as soon as possible.
“Our lawmakers know that if this becomes a law, it will provide ample support towards employment recovery and job generation for the Filipino people,” said Laguesma.
The Senate, last Monday approved on third and final reading the proposed the measure which seeks to stimulate national and local economic growth, enhance industry collaboration, and provide support to workers and businesses.
