CHIEF Justice Alexander Gesmundo said work in all courts nationwide will be suspended today starting at 3 p.m. in observance of the “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day” which is held every fourth Monday of September as part of the National Family Week celebration under Proclamation No.60 issued in 1992.
In Memorandum Order No.112-2023 dated Sept. 22, Gesmundo said the work suspension in all courts nationwide is meant to “encourage officers and employees of the Judiciary to have a common family meal in their respective homes and spend more time with their families.”
The suspension of work in the judiciary covers the SC, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, Court of Tax Appeals, down to all second and first-level courts in the country.
Based on Gesmundo’s circular, Court Administrator Raul B. Villanueva whose office — the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) – supervises all lower courts for the SC, issued OCA Circular No. 332-2023 on the suspension of work in all trial courts.
Earlier, Malacañang encouraged all government workers to fully support the Family Week celebration programs prepared by the National Committee on the Filipino Family. — Ashzel Hachero
LPA exits, to continue to bring rains
A LOW pressure area (LPA) will continue to affect the country despite its exit from the
Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) early yesterday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil reported that another LPA, which was in the eastern part of the country, dissipated on Saturday night.
Badrina said the LPA that exited PAR was some 600 km west of Iba, Zambales as of 3 a.m. yesterday.
“Its effect on our country has slightly weakened,” he said.
PAGASA said the regions of Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions, the rest of the Central Luzon and of Calabarzon regions will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough or extension of the LPA.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.
