SB19 leader Pablo, who is also the main songwriter and producer of the group, adds another feather to his cap as he becomes one of the coaches on “The Voice: Kids,” premiering on GMA this September 14.
Pablo will coach alongside fellow SB19 member and choreographer Stell, internationally recognized singer and host Billy Crawford, and best-selling recording artist Julie Anne San Jose. Together, they will mentor aspiring singers aged 7 to 14 as these kids chase their dreams of becoming musical artists.
Pablo expressed his excitement about connecting with young dreamers, recalling how they remind him of his early days in music. “Every time na nakakita ako ng kumakanta, sobrang naiinspire ako kasi du’n din po kami nagsimula ni Stell,” he shared during the show’s press conference last Wednesday.
Just like many hopefuls, SB19’s rise in the entertainment industry was not without its challenges. Pablo noted how he relates to the journey of the contestants on “The Voice Kids.”
“We’re fairly new sa industry, pero we’ve had our share of challenges. Talagang may point na mag give up ka, pero back then, gusto lang naming nagte-training kami araw-araw, gusto naming umawit, gusto naming ma-experience makapag-perform sa malalaking stage. Ganun din po ‘yung mga kids, parang sobrang puro ng intensyon nila. Ginagawa nila ‘yung bagay kasi ‘yun nga po ‘yung pangarap nila, ‘yun ang gusto nilang gawin sa buhay–‘yung umawit or even just to entertain people,” Pablo reflected.
For Pablo, the experience isn’t just about mentoring; it’s also a source of inspiration. “Every time na nakikita ko sila, kapag napanghihinaan ako ng loob, naalala ko ‘yung nag-uumpisa pa lang ang SB19, kami nina Stell, and through that nai-inspire ako. So this kind of platform, ‘The Voice: Kids,’ sobrang blessing kasi through them, na-re-relieve ko ‘yung feeling na nagsisimula pa lang kami.”
Hosted by “Kapuso Primetime King” Dingdong Dantes, the show kicks off with the thrilling blind auditions, where the focus is entirely on the young talents’ voices. The coaches will work hard to build their teams, guiding these kids on their journey to becoming “The Voice: Kids” champion.
“The Voice: Kids” will air every Sunday at 7:05 p.m. on GMA.
