AFTER her so-so showing in the Golf 5 Ladies Pro golf tournament over the weekend in the Japanese LPGA tour, Filipino-Japanese Yuka Saso fell one rung lower to 78th in the Rolex International women’s rankings released yesterday.
Saso, who finished tied for 29th in the tourney held at the Golf 5 Country Mizunami course in Gifu, Japan, remained in the top 100 of the ratings currently led by South Korean Jin Young Ko, who competes in the Korean Ladies Tour and has clung to No. 1 for 36 straight weeks.
Nine golfers vying in the JLPGA are within the top 100, with Sakura Koiwai, who ruled the Golf 5 event, moving up six notches to No. 72. The rest were Nana Hataoka (7th), Hinako Shibuno (14th), Ai Suzuki (15th), Momoko Ueda (61st), Momene Inami, Sakura Kobori (72th), Ayaka Furue (74th) and Yui Kawamoto (75th).
Saso, who won two gold medals in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, remains lodged in the International Golf Federation Olympic qualifying rankings at No. 30 released by the International Golf Federation, which is scheduled to release its new ratings next week.
