THE Office of Vice President’s satellite offices have started providing medical and burial assistance to indigents.

The satellite offices were launched last July 1, the first day of Vice President Sara Duterte’s six-year term.

Duterte’s spokesman, Reynold Munsayac, said the opening of the satellite offices aims to give people, especially those outside Metro Manila, easier access to social services.

“These established satellite offices across the country will widen the program’s reach and will guarantee a better provision of assistance,” Munsayac said in a statement.

Munsayac said the OVP satellite offices offer medical and burial assistance that can be availed through identified partner hospitals or direct walk-in applications.

He said applicants must go through the following procedures: fill out an application form; submit the complete requirements and form to the satellite office processor/staff; and wait for the processing of application and an email or personal notification informing the applicant of the date of issuance of assistance.

The OVP satellite offices are now accessible in Dagupan, Cebu, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Davao and Tandag in Surigao del Sur.

Munsayac, a former commissioner of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG), said the OVP satellite offices will not be limited to remote areas as the Vice President still has plans to open more to reach more people.
