THE San Mateo Rizal local government has barred minors aged seven and below, as well as pets, from the town’s cemeteries during Undas.
Mayor Bartolome Rivera Jr. said minors aged eight to 17 may be permitted to visit gravesites provided they are accompanied by adults.
He also reminded the public to refrain from bringing items that may create noise, knives or similar bladed instruments, firearms, combustible materials, liquor, betting instruments, and tents.
Rivera said these items may either be confiscated, temporarily kept for safekeeping, or their holders banned from entering the cemetery, which will be open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
The San Juan government begins inspection of their cemeteries today to ensure they can accommodate the public in 100% capacity.
Mayor Francis Zamora said wearing of face masks is optional but it will be mandatory if the capacity reaches or surpasses 50%.
Members of the San Juan Police will be deployed in different cemeteries and columbaria to ensure peace and order.
Bringing of speakers and other items that create noise, firearms and sharp objects like knives and ice picks, illegal drugs, gambling paraphernalia, and alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
Selling of food and refreshments, flowers, and candles will only be permitted for those who have a special business permit and only by the gate of the cemetery.
“We ask our fellow San Juaneños to observe all the rules and regulations for all of us to have a hassle-free and meaningful observance of Undas,” Zamora said. — Christian Oineza
