Ruffa Gutierrez, Ciara Sotto and Mariel Padilla bond beautifully on screen and off for AllTV’s morning show, “MOMs.”

Ruffa and Ciara were neighbors in White Plains and could just look over the fence to see each other. Mariel and Ruffa had worked together in the past. All three have bumped into each other at showbiz events throughout their stay in the business, but for their first time to work as hosts.

“I’m very excited. It’s everyone’s dream to have a morning show. Aside from the fact that I’m a mom, the work load is lighter than a teleserye. During the pandemic, lagi ako naka lock in. Maganda ditto we have good schedules,” said Ruffa at the show’s press con at Crossings Coffee Shop in Cavite last Tuesday, November 22.

“And napakasaya ng mga kasama ko. I thought madaldal na ako pero may nahanap akong may madaldal pa sa akin. Si Mariel. Punong puno ng energy. Eleven in the evening na…siya kwento pa nang kwento, parang hindi na ako nakikinig sa kanya kasi I’m conserving my energy. Thank God, may mas madaldal sa akin,” she continued.

“I know Mariel, I know Ciara and we have a good working relationship. Swak kami at masaya lang sa set. It doesn’t feel like work even if pagod lahat…Kahit pagod kami, we’re happy. It’s an easy set,” she added.

“MOMs” will be different from other morning programs as it will not solely be a talk show. The three hosts have their own expertise and will go out of the studio to undertake different tasks. “Gaya ako nagfarming ako,” revealed Ruffa. “Nagtanim ako ng mga halaman, nag harvest ako ng fruits, sumakay ako ng tractor. Pumunta ako sa Quiapo, nakipag-usap ako kay Nanay Rosa na pinakamalakas na palabok at sotanghon sa Quiapo.”

More than just knowing about the jobs of people from all walks of life, Ruffa said that the show has become a journey of self-discovery.

“I consider myself a bit sheltered, hindi masyadong nakakagala so for me this is self-discovery. Ay naku kailangan pala taasan ang sweldo ng mga farmers dahil two hours lang ako nakabilad pagod na ako. Can you imagine the farmers? What they go through? Kaya bumili ako ng mga fruits. I sent fruits to all my friends to help local farmers. It’s  learning experience for me, it’s self-discovery and marami akong natututunan. Imbes na ako ang nagbibigay ng inspiration sa kanila, ako ang kumukuha ng inspirasyon sa mga taong nai-interview ko.”

Someone asked if she will take up the cause of the farmers because of her experience.

“Malay mo. Kasi dalawang oras lang ako, parang pagod na pagod, lapot na lapot na ako… Pero I support local. Hindi maiiwasang to buy imported pero as much as possible kung kaya natin to support local, why not? Even sa designers natin. And daming mahuhusay na designers, ang daming gumagawa ng local shoes na ang gagaling. For the show, I want to promote local than imported (brands),” said Ruffa, who, incidentally, has her own brand of lifestyle products, Gutz & Glow.

“MOMs” airs from 11 to 12 noon on AllTV, Monday to Friday. (GFCT)
