A ROWDY Russian disk jockey was arrested at a club in Pasay City by intelligence officers of the Bureau of Immigration.
BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. said Andrei Umanskii, 36, was nabbed last Tuesday night for his rowdy behavior inside the club.
Manahan said Umanskii is also the subject of an order from the BI’s Board of Commissioners for expulsion from the country.
Manahan said Umanskii was ordered deported in 2023 after the BI’s board of commissioners found him to be overstaying for more than three years.
Umanskii had previously made headlines on two separate occasions in Palawan for his involvement in altercations.
BI records said Umanskii was arrested in 2020 in El Nido town for resisting and disobeying persons in authority after local officials reported that he was drunk and violent in their barangay.
In 2022, he was cited in a news report for assaulting a tricycle driver in Puerto Princesa.
Umanskii is detained at the BI warden’s facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City pending his deportation to Russia.
Immigration Commission Norman Tansingco said Umanskii’s apprehension should serve as a warning to foreigners to respect and follow the country’s laws and regulations.
“The Bureau of Immigration does not welcome foreigners who abuse the country’s hospitality. We are committed to maintaining peace and order, and we will take necessary actions against those who violate our laws,” Tansingco said.
“Foreign nationals should be mindful of their behavior and adhere to our regulations. We will not tolerate any actions that disrupt the peace and safety of our communities,” he added.
