THE southbound lane of the Kamuning flyover in Quezon City that was closed to motorists last May for repairs will be opened today, Thursday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said in an advisory.
“The opening of the flyover tomorrow is way ahead of the original schedule which is supposed to be in October,” MMDA chief Romando Artes said.
Artes, along with officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways, will open the repaired portion.
The southbound lane of the EDSA-Kamuning flyover has been partially closed since May 1 for much-needed retrofitting and rehabilitation.
The repair work affected two lanes of the flyover while the other lane was used exclusively for the EDSA busway.
Data from the MMDA Traffic Engineering Center showed that 24,000 four-wheeled vehicles and 23,000 motorcycles traverse the southbound lane of the EDSA-Kamuning flyover daily.
