JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla reported back to work at the Department of Justice yesterday after his 10-day wellness leave that saw him undergoing a heart bypass tragedy.
”Today is back to work day,” Remulla told the media after he met with DOJ undersecretaries and assistant secretaries.
Remulla said he is trying to work out a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule of being physically present at the DOJ. He also said he discussed “issues attending the department” in his meeting with the DOJ senior leadership.
Remulla last week said he underwent the heart bypass procedure on June 27, a day after he started his wellness leave. He said his doctors told him his physical examination the week before showed heart blockage.
He said he is undergoing physical rehabilitation sessions and is doing fine since undergoing the procedure.
Remulla earlier said that despite his health condition, the thought of resigning his post never crossed his mind.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo also returned to work yesterday after taking a wellness leave.
Gesmundo was greeted by banners bearing the words “Hail to the Chief’ as he was welcomed by Supreme Court officials and employees.
Gesmundo was later joined by 11 magistrates at Monday’s flag raising ceremony.
