THE relics of three popes who had been declared as saints will be up for public veneration tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros as part of the country’s celebration of Pope’s Day.
In a social media post, the Manila Cathedral said the relics of Saints Pope John XXIII, Pope Paul VI, and Pope John Paul II will be opened to the public on June 29.
“The relics of the three Popes, Saints John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul II will be exposed for the veneration of the faithful,” the Manila Cathedral said in a statement.
It said the faithful that will join the celebration will have something to bring home.
“A special estampita or prayer card with the pictures of the three saints will be distributed to the faithful,” the statement said.
John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul II were all canonized by Pope Francis.
To celebrate the Pope’s Day, or the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, a 6 p.m. mass will also be held at the Manila Cathedral on Wednesday.
“We will gather at the Manila Cathedral at 6 p.m. to offer special prayers for our beloved Holy Father Pope Francis,” said the Manila Cathedral.
The Holy Mass will be celebrated by the Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown and Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula.
