WHILE the voter registration period will continue until September 30, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday reminded the public that the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) will end on August 31.
In a social media post, the Comelec said there will be no more RAP during the final month of the voter registration period for the May 2025 national and local polls.
“The RAP, where you can get registered even if you are not in your place of residence, will be until August 31 only,” it said, which was seconded by Elections chairman George Garcia who urged the public to take advantage of the RAP’s final week.
“The opportunity to get registered without needing to go home to your provinces, without needing to take a leave from work, or to be absent from classes, will be ending on August 31,” said Garcia in an interview.
The RAP allows a qualified registrant to file his/her application wherever there is a designated RAP registration site regardless of his/her place of residence.
The RAP is open to those looking to apply as new registrants, transfer their registration from another city/municipality/district, transfer their registration from overseas to local, make correction in their data or change their status, and reactivate their registration.
The Comelec said those who will not be able to avail of the RAP services may continue to apply as new registrants or update their records in the Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) that hold jurisdiction in the areas where they are residing.
“Voter registration will continue until September 30, 2024. Registration, transfer, reactivation will continue but they have to go to their local registration sites to do so,” said Garcia.
The Commission also said voter registration activities will continuously be held for qualified overseas voters until September 30 in Philippine embassies and consulates.
Based on Comelec data, there are now 5,503,677 applications for voter registration filed from February 12 to August 24.
Still having the most number of applicants is Calabarzon with 923,615; followed by the National Capital Region with 736,018; and Central Luzon with 624,552.
Having the lowest number of registrants, on the other hand, is the Cordillera Administrative Region with 76,597.
