MIDWAY through its pilot testing, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday said its Register Anywhere Project (RAP) is set to go nationwide soon.
In an interview after launching the RAP booth at the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) gym in Pasay City, Elections chairman George Garcia said that the RAP will be expanded to all regions of the Philippines.
He said the RAP operations may even be expanded beyond being a weekend activity.
“We are also looking at having RAP activities that are not on Saturdays and Sundays,” said Garcia.
RAP booths are open only every Saturdays and Sundays in eight participating malls, which are SM Sucat in Parañaque City, Robinsons Place in Manila, Robinsons Galleria in Quezon City, SM Fairview in Quezon City, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Robinsons Tacloban in Tacloban City, SM City Legazpi in Legazpi City, and Robinsons Naga in Naga City.
From January 10 to 13 and January 16 to 20, the GSIS will also host RAP booths in its gymnasium in Pasay City.
The poll chief said the planned expansion comes after the RAP has proven to be effective in making voter registration more accessible to the public.
