THE bestowal for Cardinal Jose Advincula will finally push through today in Roxas City, Capiz.

In an announcement, the Archdiocese of Capiz said the “red hat” ceremony, which had been postponed twice, will be held at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral at 3:30 p.m.

“With joy and thanksgiving to Almighty God, the Archdiocese of Capiz joyfully announces the bestowal ceremonies and the Thanksgiving Mass of His Eminence, Jose Fuerte Cardinal Advincula,” said the Capiz Archdiocese.

Advincula is set to be installed as the 33rd archbishop of Manila on June 24 at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros.

With the event today also serving as thanksgiving mass for the outgoing Capiz archbishop, the archdiocese urged the faithful to join the rites virtually.

“We all want to witness this historic and once-in-a lifetime event. However, in observance of health protocols, and to ensure the safety of everyone, we enjoin the lay faithful to follow the entire celebration through Facebook live streaming,” said the Capiz Archdiocese.

To recall, Advincula’s “red hat” ceremony was initially pushed back from May 28 to June 8, because of the unavailability of the Papal Nuncio to the Philippines, Archbishop Charles Brown, who had to complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine upon his arrival from the United States.

The June 8 ceremony also had to be pushed back also by the Archdiocese of Capiz after Roxas City was placed under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) restriction.

It was back in October 2020 when Pope Francis announced 13 new additions to the College of Cardinals, including Advincula.
