METRO Manila police chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar yesterday said the Quad Intel Force will furnish the Bureau of Corrections with names of convicts and staff members involved in the illegal drug trade inside the National Bilibid Prison.
Eleazar said the task force has already come up with a list of the convicts and BuCor personnel who have been working in cahoots with drug lords who conduct their illegal business from inside the prison facility.
The names of all those involved, he said, came up based on intelligence information gathered by the Quad Intel Force, which is composed of the NCRPO, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-NCR, National Bureau of Investigation-NCR, and the AFP’s Joint Task Force-NCR.
Eleazar said the names will be given directly to newly-appointed BuCor chief Gerald Bantag “in order for him to craft security measures to hinder them (BuCor staff members) to continuously supervise the operations of their respective syndicates despite being detained at the Bilibid.”
Eleazar did not give additional details as to the number of BuCor personnel and inmates included in the list.
Eleazar said providing the names of the bureau personnel and NBP inmates to the BuCor is the Quad Intel Force’s contribution to the vetting process initiated by Bantag as part of reforms to stop corruption and illegal activities inside the Bilibid prisons.
Bantag has already stripped all prison guards of duty due to corruption issues. Last week, the NCRPO sent a total of 551 augmentation forces to the NBP to help secure the detention facility.
Eleazar has said the four-agency task force will set up a liaison office inside the NBP compound to serve as its eyes and ears against convicts and members of the BuCor who have been conniving with illegal drugs syndicates inside the prison jail.
