QUEZON City Mayor Joy Belmonte yesterday said it is unlikely that the city government will meet the 15-day deadline set by the Department of Interior and Local Government to complete the distribution of the government’s cash assistance to low-income families affected by the enhanced community quarantine imposed in the NCR Plus.
During the Laging Handa press briefing, Belmonte said: “Our problem is how to maintain proper social distancing and how to observe minimum health standards when we are being rushed to complete the distribution of the assistance within 15 days.”
Belmote said the city comprises 25 percent of the size of the entire Metro Manila. Its P2.48 billion share for the cash aid will be distributed to around 2.4 million persons or a minimum of 800,000 families.
“This is our main challenge at the moment,” said Belmonte.
