OPERATIVES of the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) have arrested a Quezon City policeman facing a charge of concubinage.

IMEG director Brig. Gen. Warren De Leon identified the cop as Master Sergeant John Ledesma Mollenido, 36, who is assigned to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

De Leon said Mollenido was nabbed by IMEG operatives, in coordination with other police units, last Saturday in a room at the Airobez Hotel in Makati City.

Mollenido was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by Cavite Judge Antonio Oyao Del Val last September 29 for concubinage. A P30,000 bail was set for the policeman’s temporary liberty.

In a statement, IMEG said the concubinage case was filed by Mollenido’s wife after discovering that her husband was cohabiting with another woman.

IMEG said Mollenido was arrested based on a tip from the hotel’s supervisor.

Mollenido is currently detained at the IMEG custodial facility in Camp Crame “for documentation prior to the return of an arrest warrant to the issuing court,” IMEG said.

Meanwhile, the Quezon City Police Department has filed a murder case against a policeman for the killing of a 29-year-old man after a brawl at a Quezon City bar last Tuesday.

The suspect, Patrolman Edwin Rivera, assigned with the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion, is currently in the custody of the QCPD.

Earlier reports said Rivera accosted the victim, Chrismel Serioso, and accused him of selling illegal drugs.

Serioso tried to escape but Rivera shot him in the abdomen, causing the victim’s death.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said that also charged with murder were Rivera’s cohorts, Joshua Balisalin and one John Doe. The two are at large.

Rivera and his cohorts are also facing illegal possession of firearms in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
