COMBINED anti-illegal drugs agents killed a suspected pusher and seized four kilos of suspected shabu worth P27.2 million in an operation in Barangay San Roque, Cubao, Quezon City early yesterday.

Metro Manila police chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar identified the suspect as Edgardo Labay Alfonso, 50, a resident of Barangay Tramo, Pasig City.

Eleazar said an undercover operative from the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit of the National Capital Region Police Office bought shabu from Alfonso in front of a gas station on P. Tuazon Ave.

Alfonso, however, sensed that he was dealing with a cop, drew his gun and shot the agent but missed, prompting other operatives to give chase until he was cornered on 18th Ave. near the corner of Del Pilar St. in Barangay San Roque. Instead of giving up, Alfonso reportedly resisted, which forced the cops to shoot him.

Eleazar said his men recovered from the scene four kilos of shabu placed in plastic zip bags, the noodle money used in the transaction, and a loaded .45 caliber pistol.

Eleazar said Alfonso was among the targets of intensive anti-illegal drugs operation under the NCRPO Case Operational Plan.

Meanwhile, four men were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Pasig, Marikina and San Juan yesterday.

Brig. Gen. Johnson Almazan, Eastern police district (EPD) director, identified the four as Jhowel Lubid Jr., 24; Darwin Malisa, 21; Sandro Amandy, 27; and Jason Servania, 30.

Recovered from them were 15 sachets of suspected shabu. — With Rod Lagusad and Christian Oineza
