Although his contract with Adamson University expired last Dec. 31, Pumaren told Malaya-Business Insight yesterday that he is still receiving a salary from the Falcons.
“I’m still getting paid,” Pumaren said. He did not elaborate.
Pumaren, 57, guided the Soaring Falcons to three straight Final Four stints in the last four seasons.
Fil-Nigerian playmaker Jerrick Ahanmisi has opted to forego his final year with Adamson and instead join the PBA Draft set on March 14.
“With the cancellation of the UAAP (83rd season) and no clear dates, I think it was the deciding factor,” Pumaren said, referring to Ahanmisi’s decision. “I understand it very well and we can’t take it against him.”
A councilor in the third district of Quezon City, Pumaren is mulling the possibility of calling it quits in coaching to focus on his career as a public servant.
