THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday asked the public to always report side effects of any medicines they have taken.

“Whether you’re a patient, doctor, nurse, or pharmacist, you can help make medicines safer by reporting side effects to FDA Philippines,” FDA Director General Samuel Zacate said in a statement for the observance of the Med Safety Week.

“All reports made to FDA Philippines will be thoroughly assessed and examined to determine the right steps to be taken to protect the population from harm,” he added.

Zacate said reporting is needed in detecting side effects of medicines.

“The purpose of safety monitoring is to gain more information about known side effects and find out about new ones. Constantly collecting and monitoring information from the reports received help identify risks associated with medicines and take action to minimize harm,” he said.

He said reports about side effects of medicines can be submitted via https://bit.ly/FDAPHReportSideEffect.
