STILL not turning pro.

With the country already having one pro league in the Premier Volleyball League, Philippine Super Liga chairman Philip Ella “Popoy” maintained the PSL is not keen on going pro, for now.

“Our board and team owners, the ones that are still with us, want (the PSL) to still be non-professional. We realized that there is no reason to have two pro leagues. It’s a question of common sense,” Juico said yesterday on the online Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum.

“We are happy here and we have a niche here. Bakit pa natin ipipilit? Nandiyan na. That’s the thinking our team owners have,” he added.

The athletics chief also said the original March 15 opening of the All-Filipino Conference will be moved to a later date due to its negotiations with a potential new broadcast partner in GMA 7 and to give more time for the teams to prepare.
